SIGNING OF THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA
AND THE GOVERNMENT OF ROMANIA ON COOPERATION IN PREVENTING AND COMBATING
TRANSNATIONAL ORGANIZED CRIME, TERRORISM AND OTHER TYPES OF CRIME

On July 10th 2006 in Bucharest, Romania, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia represented by Director General for Information and Public Diplomacy of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of Romania represented by Deputy Head of Public Order and Safety Department of the Ministry of Administration and Interior of Romania,  signed the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of Romania on Cooperation in Preventing and Combating Transnational Organized Crime, Terrorism and Other Types of Crime.


This Agreement reflects common interests existing between the two countries as well as commitments to enhance cooperation in preventing and combating transnational organized crime, terrorism and other types of crime. The Agreement provides an umbrella for the implementation of cooperation between competent authorities of both countries with regard to prevention, detection and investigation of crimes affecting one of the parties. Areas of cooperation to be developed include, among others, exchange and protection of information and intelligent data on planned and attempted actions against public order and security, and undertake coordinated actions to prevent and combat terrorism.
 
Before the signing ceremony, the two representatives held a bilateral talks discussing the follow up actions to be carried out in the future through bilateral cooperation in this matter.

There was also a press conference organized by the Ministry of Administration and Interior of Romania attended by journalists from local mass media in order to disseminate information on the development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in this area to the people of Romania.
