Toronto - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said that concrete result of the G20 summit would decide the public trust in G20`s roles in the face of the global financial crisis.
"A number of issues will emerge in the meeting, and the results achieved during the discussions will build public trust in the role of G20," the president said at his briefing with his entourage at Westin Hotel before he attended an official banquet here on Saturday evening.
He said that like previous G20 summits in Washington, London and Pittsburgh, this time the summit would also have state leaders to take turn in leading the summit discussions.
"We will try to take the opportunity in each session so that we can raise various topics. Indonesia will lead discussions on trade and investment," Yudhoyono said.
The president said that it was important for him to understand the aspirations of various sides because the world was waiting for what will be achieved by the forum.
He said that there were two approaches being developed by European states and the United States to prevent the recurrence of the global financial crisis.
A number of European states suggested that budget should be cut to prevent deficit. In the meantime the United States would prefer to maintain stimulus policies so that economy would not turn into crisis.
"Indonesia thinks that it should not look at the matter in term of black and white. We cannot merely take a deficit cut or continue fiscal stimulus polices because each country is facing a different situation," he said.
Indonesia, he said, considers the importance of stable growth which could provide equitable distribution of strength.
On the occasion, the president asked ministers joining his party to continue monitoring the G20 discussions so that the agreement that would be achieved would be implemented easily for the goodness of the country`s economy.
