Padang, W Sumatra - Indonesia`s fishery exports in the first quarter of 2010 increased 3.7 percent to 3.26 thousand tons, an official of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fishery (KKP) said.
"The fishery exports were dominated by catch and cultured fresh fish products which increased to 2.45 thousand tons," Head of KKP`s Data Center Soen`an H Purnomo said here on Friday.
He was quoting M Syamusl Maarif, KKP`s secretary general that the value of the fishery exports increased 7.09 percent to US$621.8 million from that in 2009.
He said that fat and cod-liver oil export increased by 3,000 percent from 2.26 thousand kg to 69.38 thousand kg.
Even though the overall exports were increasing yet there were a number of items which experienced a decline such as frozen shrimps, canned shrimps, fresh tuna, `cakalang` tuna, canned crabs, frog legs, snails other fishery products, he said. -Antara, 12 July 2010-
