Jakarta - Indonesia will keep its commitment to help solve the world conflicts in 2010, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marty Natalegawa said during his yearly press conference speech here on Friday.
"Indonesia will increase its role in bridging the differences in the international world. Our foreign policy will
consistently put Indonesia as a mediator which always posts diplomacy and dialogues on the first place to solve conflicts," the minister said.
Marty took an example of violence in the Middle East as a result of Israel`s violations of international law and
previous commitment made with Palestine during the peace process.
"Indonesia will keep supporting the peace process there with the aim to realize a freed Palestine," Marty said adding that his ministry would also urge the Quartet for the Israel-Palestine Road Map comprising the United States, United Nations (UN), Russia and the European Union (EU) to enhance the peace process in the Middle East.
Other conflicts such as those in Iraq and Afghanistan, the nuclear threat in the Korean peninsula and Iran were also
among Indonesia`s foreign diplomatic attention, Marty added.
The minister assured that Indonesia would use its membership in several international organizations such as the UN,
ASEAN, G20, Group of 77 and Organizations of the Islamic Conference (OIC) to actively boost world peace and security.
