YUDHOYONO, OBAMA TO HAVE BILATERAL MEETING

   
     Nusa Dua, Bali - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his United States counterpart Barack Obama will have a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 19th ASEAN summit, incorporated with the 14th ASEAN+3 summit and the Sixth East Asia summit.

     Based on a information from presidential press bureau, the one-hour bilateral meeting between Yudhoyono and Obama will be held at Uluwatu-1 room of Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) at 5.40 on Friday evening.

     The bilateral meeting in the sidelines of Obama`s presence in Bali to attend the East Asia summit as ASEAN partner in the Pacific region will be the second of its kind since the US president visited Indonesia in November 2010 to discuss Indonesia-US comprehensive cooperation.

     President Yudhoyono on Friday is also scheduled to chair the third meeting of ASEAN heads of state/government with Obama at 4.40 pm Central Indonesia Standard Time (WITA).

     ASEAN Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan will also attend the meeting, chaired by President Yudhoyono to discuss efforts to step up ASEAN-US cooperation at a strategic level, including the formation of ASEAN-US Eminent Person Group.

     Both parties at the meeting will set their focus on the development of political reform in Myanmar, the establishment of ASEAN nuclear free zone, and the cooperation to combat terrorism.

     Besides, the ASEAN heads of state/government will also discuss global economic recovery efforts, food and energy security, achievement of millennium development goals, and efforts to reduce disparities among ASEAN member countries.
