The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Romania, Her Excellency Mrs. Marianna Sutadi has presented the Letters of Credence to His Excellency Mr. Traian Băsescu, President of Romania, at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace in Bucharest, on April 12, 2010. The handing in of the letters marks the commencement of the official duty of Ambassador Marianna Sutadi in Romania.
After presenting the Letters of Credence, Ambassador Marianna Sutadi and President Traian Băsescu held bilateral talks in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Ambassador Marianna Sutadi conveyed warm greetings from the President of the Republic of Indonesia and, in reply, the President of Romania conveyed his warm greetings to the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
President Traian Băsescu and Ambassador Marianna Sutadi talked about ways to improve the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Romania. President Traian Băsescu stated that even if there is deficit for Romania in the trade balance, the Romanian side will try to stabilize the situation and both sides agreed to strengthen the bilateral relations and to develop the trade relations. They also talked about the developments in both countries.
Ambassador Marianna Sutadi is the 14th Indonesian Ambassador to Romania. She previously served as Vice Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in Jakarta. Her predecessor was Mrs. Nuni Turnijati Djoko (2004-2007). The Indonesia - Romania diplomatic relationship has lasted for 60 years, starting from February 20, 1950. In 1961, Indonesia opened the diplomatic mission in Bucharest, with the first Ambassador Mr. Soekrisno. The last visit to Romania of a President of the Republic of Indonesia was paid by Mrs. Megawati Sukarnoputri in 2003, and Mr. Ion Iliescu, the President of Romania, paid a reply visit to Jakarta in 2004.
