Beijing - Indonesia will send 20 doctors to help victims of the May 12 massive earthquake that struck the Chinese provinces of Sichuan and Ganzu.
"They are expected to arrive in Lanzhou, Ganzu Province, this week to help the quake victims," spokesperson for the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing Rosmalawati Khalid said on Monday.
The dispatch of the medical team was to meet a commitment of the Indonesian government to assist the quake victims as a manifestation of the long standing solidarity between the two nations, she said.
The medical team which consists of different specialists would be stationed in quake-hit areas, she said. "The medical team will help the victims who are ill and injured. But we don't know how long they will be staying there," she said.Earlier, Indonesia also sent US$1.5 million worth of relief aid including foods, medicines and tents to the victims of China's most devastating earthquake in three decades.
